In Your Words

Jan Oskar Hansen

Yellow lemons
Among rain dripping leaves
Look tempting to eat

Yellow bananas
Flown from tropical Panama
Brighten winter days

Yellow plums
In the neglected garden
Are for nimble rats.

Yellow grapefruit
Sterile as tethered mule
Are pink inside.

Xanthous fluffy bird
Flaps yolk coloured wings
Picks the yellow fruit

Word

Snowdrops are the white
You see in rainbows

Silky rain is the liquid
Roses love

Simply told tales
Are leaves in rivers
Floating poetry.

Mighty flood
Ocean is your destiny
Deadly her embrace

The creek so still
On silky shrouds of dust
Trout float belly up.

Deep in the forest
Where chainsaws are unknown
An elk swims in a lake.

A fugitive echo
Escaped loose lips
Drowned in a mere

In poets workshops
Egalitarian roses bloom
Looking as twins.

Salt is the sea
Kissed her deeply
And found out.

Garden pond
Hesitant tiny steps
Child lost.

Ploughed sea
Have no potholes
Only steep inclines.

There is no wisdom
In a bullied child's eyes
Only resentment

Busy road
Road work
Summer.

Cycling is healthy
If you avoid
Busy roads.

Afghanistan
Where democracy
Lost its morality.

Love's apathy
Shadow dancing
With Eva Peron.

Sun drenched wind
Chases cold shadows
Off the road.

Sadness
is a butterfly
not prepared for winter

Red bag, blue legs
Misery in painted face
Street walker's winter.

The kitchen clock
Ticks slow in December
Too fast in May

In a hollow
Behind a giant oak
Porous snow shrunk.

In the freezer
The boy keeps a memory
A snowball.

Discarded love
Under the tree of hope
Fertilize the soil.

Late year butterfly
On the window ledge
Waits in vain.

Senryu

Siege,
Hospital Surrounded by
Undertakers.

Doctors' surgery
Full of unspoken worries
Telling silence.

Haiku.

When sun left
Ice roses appeared
On windows.

Zen

Dawn
Frost kills twigs
Cold sun

Morning
Sunrays kill
Dew
