In Our Words

Victoria Valentine

pink nose kitten peeks
through bushes of roses red
shy my lover's blush

summer breezes speak
murmuring his name aloud
sweetest memories

if not for his face
winter would cover my heart
forever frozen

my beautiful muse
without him storm clouds gather
this soul cannot soar

calm after the storm
rain barrel overflowing
love seeping away

dampening sunrise
promises of cold raindrops
my soul fights darkness

icy raindrops fall
rudely tapping budding trees
dying without him

campfire flames beach
dusk ocean waves competing
signaling souls home

beacon shouts harshly
we scramble toward a lighthouse
calming our shoreline

hurricane rages
waves chewing up our shoreline
erosion of love
