vesper prayer music, fading gelid  afternoon

delicate blossom
anthropomorphic  flower
such that I  miss her
we walk for long hours
this expanse of shrouded  shore
graceful white lake birds
chaperon joyful sojourn
of two in love-locked wending

under  intense blue sky
wading  drifts of sheer color
before winter's wind
cerulean  dome
soars  over yellow, crimson
orange  and old gold
scene brushed with  nature's sure hand

I was born in Fort Dodge in northwestern Iowa and received my early education in a small town in the southeastern area of the state, near the Mississippi  River.  My college and  postgraduate studies in musical composition were completed at the University of Northern  Iowa in Cedar Falls and  University of Iowa,  Iowa City respectively.  My  literary work is an avocation.

I enjoy reading all  types of literature, but especially enjoy fiction and
the writing of  contemplative authors from antiquity to the present day.  The poetry of Whitman, Poe, Pound and  more recently Langston Hughes, Sylvia Plath, Carl Sandburg, Margaret  Attwood among others and especially Mary Oliver, figure as important  influences. Published  titles include:
Random Raging Images and  Other Ramblings -   Second Edition - a  book of short stories and poetry  published by SynergEbooks,  (King NC, 2003)
and a small collection of  poetry, Sketches From Nature,
published by Kastle  ePublishing, Books (Trenton  FL,  2002).
My work has been  anthologized in several collections
including When I Was A  Child (poetry  2003) and Sojourns
(short stories  2003), both published by Poetworks  Press
(New Smyrna Beach, FL) and Voice of a Soldier (short  story
2006), Sunpiper Press (Hayden, Alabama)
